Deadwood SD Assaulted By Old Man Winter
The first blizzard of the year has touched down in Deadwood, SD. I guess the season is officially here. It never feels like winter until that first blast of snow hits. Although, I think South Dakota may have gotten a little more than they bargained for. Deadwood, SD got the most accumulation at four feet of snow, with winds hammering them at fifty miles an hour.
The usual tribulations that a storm like this brings are in full force everywhere in the storm’s path. Residents have experienced power outages. The roads are a mess. Motorists have gotten stuck for as long as 24-hours. And emergency service units are being kept busy. Thankfully, I haven’t heard of any fatalities as a result of this.
The current forecast has the storm weakening at this point, and turning up towards Canada. The assault on The States by this particular front should end early Saturday morning. If you had any plans to be in Deadwood, SD or any of the affected states, I would suggest that you postpone them until things are cleared up.
And for those that are going through it, good luck to you, and stay as safe as you can.
