Pirates Of The Caribbean On Stranger Tides

Pirates of the Caribbean On Stranger Tides – There you have the title of the fourth movie in the series. That’s right, they aren’t done yet. It’s expected release date is in the summer of 2011. I have been reading some of the buzz around the internet about the upcoming movie, and was surprised by some of it. There seems to be a lack of faith in the worth of this upcoming chapter.

I don’t know why there would be such doubt as to whether Pirates of the Caribbean On Stranger Tides will be worth the twelve bucks to see. Yes, I will admit that there is many a series of movies that has taken things too far. That couldn’t leave well enough alone and quit while they were ahead, but instead opted to run their franchise into the ground like an old boxer, past his prime, who just has to take one more shot at the title and subject himself to the pummeling of his life. What these series are is just a matter of opinion, of course. One person’s masterpiece could easily be another’s cinema hell.

My own take on it is that Pirates of the Caribbean On Stranger Tides most likely won’t be either one. I am not expecting a masterpiece, even though I have thoroughly enjoyed all three movies so far. I own the DVDs and everything. I thought the first movie in the series, The Curse of the Black Pearl, was great. It’s been a long time since this genre has been touched upon by Hollywood. And I am a big fan of the glamorized version of it. The reality of the period, the raping, pillaging, murderous lifestyle that it was is far less attractive, of course. But the reality of anything often is.

The second installment, Dead Man’s Chest, was an equally fun movie, although I don’t like it quite as much as the first. I once heard that the villain is the character that truly drives a story, and this preference of mine may have everything to do with me preferring Captain Barbossa to having to look at Davy Jones and his face full of calamari for two hours.

I will admit that, in my opinion, the third movie, At World’s End, was the weakest. To start with, any scene with multiple Captain Jacks in it and talking to himself, was annoying, and a complete waste of time. I didn’t see any purpose for this to be in there. I can’t really pick on the movie too much aside form that though.

So, you may ask the question of why, with the seeming decline from movie to movie, would I not jump on the negative bandwagon as far as Pirates of the Caribbean On Stranger Tides is concerned? Simply put, I still like all three of them, despite any flaws. I think they were all fun movies. And I think that Pirates of the Caribbean On Stranger Tides will be too. I am not expecting anything earth shattering form them. Nothing that will win an Oscar or raise the bar of moviedom. Just entertain me as you have three times before. Bring me into your world. And give me an experience that is worth twelve bucks because the small screen of my TV can’t contain the special effects.

I don’t think that Pirates of the Caribbean On Stranger Tides will disappoint.
